Privacy Policy
1. Privacy-First Commitment
At RankSight, privacy is a core architectural pillar. We do not sell user data, we do not deploy invasive cross-site tracking beacons, and we do not build behavioral advertising profiles. Our platform is engineered to deliver transparent, merit-based software discovery with minimal data footprint.
2. Information We Collect
We process only data strictly necessary to operate a public software directory:
- Public Project Metadata: Software name, URL, descriptions, category tags, logos, and publicly attributed founder handles submitted for indexation.
- Founder Contact Info: Email addresses provided during domain verification or claim processes. These are used strictly for transactional verification notices and security alerts.
- Public 𝕏 Share Signals: Public tweet URLs and author handles when verifying public shares on 𝕏 to calculate distribution scores.
- Technical Telemetry: Ephemeral server request logs, user agent strings, and anonymized performance metrics.
3. Anti-Abuse & Salted IP Hashing
To prevent spam bots, Sybil attacks, and rate-limit abuse without compromising individual privacy, incoming IP addresses are converted into salted one-way SHA-256 cryptographic hashes:
Raw, unhashed IP addresses are discarded after sliding rate-limit windows expire and are never permanently stored in our databases.
4. Public Nature of Directory Listings
All submitted project information is published openly on the web. This data is server-rendered, indexed by search engines, distributed via RSS feeds, and formatted into machine-readable manifests (/llms.txt) for AI answer engines. If you do not want software metadata to be public, do not submit it to RankSight.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
RankSight does not use marketing or third-party advertising cookies. We use minimal browser LocalStorage strictly for functional purposes:
- Storing your UI color theme preference (Light / Dark mode).
- Caching recent client-side search queries for instant autocomplete.
- Maintaining temporary authentication state for claimed project dashboards.
6. Third-Party Services
When you interact with external services (such as visiting an external software website or sharing via 𝕏), their respective privacy policies apply. We encourage you to review third-party policies before engaging with external sites.
7. Your Data Rights & Deletion
Under GDPR, CCPA, and global privacy standards, you have the right to inspect, correct, or request deletion of personal or project information associated with your verified ownership.
To request metadata updates, ownership transfer, or complete listing removal, submit a request via /report or contact our Data Privacy team at privacy@ranksight.lol.
