1
General & Overview

What is RankSight?

RankSight is an open, structured discovery and reputation layer for internet software, developer tools, AI systems, SaaS apps, and indie software. We provide a transparent, deterministic leaderboard combined with machine-readable indexing (Schema.org JSON-LD and /llms.txt) for both human builders and AI answer engines.
2
General & Overview

How is RankSight different from Product Hunt or traditional software directories?

Traditional directories rely on 24-hour click-based upvote tournaments that are easily manipulated by voting rings or paid placement auctions. RankSight uses a continuous, deterministic mathematical algorithm driven by verified public social distribution on 𝕏, unique sharer diversity, time decay, domain ownership verification, and metadata quality score. Organic positions cannot be purchased or boosted.
3
General & Overview

Is RankSight free to use and browse?

Yes, 100%. RankSight is completely free for users searching for software, and free for founders and creators submitting their projects. Our public APIs, RSS feeds, llms.txt indexes, and embeddable badges are also free and accessible without any paywall.
4
Algorithm & RankingCore Formula

How is a project's RankScore calculated?

RankScore is computed deterministically using the formula: RankScore = Σ(15 × Decay(share_age)) + (10 × UniqueSharers) + QualityScore(0–15) + OwnerBonus(10), where Decay = 1 / (1 + AgeInDays × 0.05). We also enforce a cumulative baseline score so established projects maintain their authority while leaving room for emerging tools.
5
Algorithm & Ranking

Can I pay to boost or sponsor my ranking on the leaderboard?

No. RankSight does not sell leaderboard positions, sponsored rank badges, or paid upvote packages. All leaderboard ranks (#1 through #100+) are 100% computed via our open mathematical ranking algorithm.
6
Algorithm & Ranking

How does time decay work on RankSight?

Each verified share signal decays gradually using the mathematical function 1 / (1 + days × 0.05). At 20 days, a share maintains 50% of its initial velocity value. This ensures that leaderboard rankings reflect current real-world momentum rather than static historical popularity.
7
Algorithm & Ranking

What counts as a verified share on 𝕏?

A verified share is an authentic, public post on 𝕏 that references the project's canonical URL or listing slug. Our ingestion pipeline verifies post authenticity, author originality, and deduplicates repeated posts from the same account.
8
Algorithm & Ranking

How does RankSight prevent bots, Sybil attacks, and fake share rings?

RankSight deploys multiple automated safeguards: salted IP cryptographic hashing for sliding-window rate limiting, strict tweet ID deduplication, author age/activity reputation checks, and velocity dampening algorithms that suppress sudden artificial spikes from newly created disposable accounts.
9
Submissions & Listings

How do I submit a project to RankSight?

Navigate to /submit and enter your project URL and details. Our crawler automatically extracts metadata, favicons, open graph previews, and tech stack tags to auto-enrich your listing in less than 60 seconds.
10
Submissions & Listings

What types of software and products are eligible for listing?

We index functional web applications, SaaS platforms, developer tools, CLI utilities, AI models/agents, open-source libraries, browser extensions, desktop apps, and tech publications. Projects must have an active public URL, functional user interface or code repository, and clear documentation.
11
Submissions & Listings

How long does it take for a newly submitted project to appear?

Submissions are processed immediately and indexed within seconds. Your project will immediately appear on the Newly Listed board and will begin climbing the main Leaderboard as soon as verified distribution signals and quality factors are recorded.

Submissions & Listings

How do I edit or update my project details after submission?

If you have verified domain ownership, you can update your project tagline, description, features, pricing model, and social links at any time from your Project Dashboard. Alternatively, you can submit an update request through our Report & Correction Form.

Domain Verification+10 Pts Bonus

How do I verify domain ownership of my project?

Click 'Claim This Project' on your project listing page. You can verify instantly by adding a single HTML meta tag (<meta name='ranksight-verification' content='...'>) to your homepage or by adding a DNS TXT record. Verification is verified in real-time.
14
Domain Verification

What are the benefits of verifying domain ownership?

Verified projects receive a permanent +10 points trust boost to their RankScore, a verified checkmark badge on their card and leaderboard entry, exclusive rights to edit project metadata, and priority inclusion in our daily AI index feeds.
15
AI & Machine DiscoveryAEO / GEO

How does RankSight help AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini)?

RankSight serves every project with structured Schema.org JSON-LD (SoftwareApplication, Organization, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList) and aggregates all tools into standardized machine-readable endpoints (/llms.txt and /llms-full.txt). This allows AI agents and LLMs to accurately retrieve, understand, and cite your tool during user prompts.
16
AI & Machine Discovery

What is /llms.txt and how do AI models consume it?

/llms.txt is an emerging open web standard for providing LLMs with concise, markdown-formatted summaries of website content without HTML bloat. RankSight exposes curated software directories and technical specs via /llms.txt so AI crawlers can index current rankings and tool capabilities with minimal token overhead.
17
Badges & Embeds

How do I add a live dynamic RankSight badge to my GitHub README or website?

You can embed a live, real-time SVG rank badge using markdown: ![RankSight Rank](https://ranksight.lol/embed/badge/your-project-slug.svg). The badge automatically updates as your leaderboard ranking changes.

Is there a public API to query RankSight rankings?

Yes. RankSight provides open JSON APIs including GET /api/rankings, GET /api/categories, GET /api/projects/{slug}, and GET /api/search?q={query}. All endpoints return fast, cached JSON responses.

Are RSS feeds available for tracking new and trending projects?

Yes! You can subscribe to our RSS feed at /rss.xml or category-specific RSS feeds to stay updated whenever exciting new developer tools and startups launch.
